Avatar Babies Are Up For Sale, But No One’s Quite Sure How To Feel About Them
Remember the movie Avatar that was released in 2009? It’s all about a paraplegic marine who was dispatched to the fictional exoplanetary moon called Pandora to mine and bring back to earth a mineral known as unobtanium. The reason humans desperately wanted this mineral was because of its superconductive properties that permitted it to float in magnetic fields. The marine, however, refused to follow the orders, fell in love and became one with the Na’vi – the inhabitants of Pandora. The plot was great, the visuals were amazing and people left the theatres with incredible CGI memories. But what if we tell you that you can buy Na’vi babies online and have them delivered at home?
Let me be honest, a lot of people didn’t know how to feel when they saw these Avatar babies on Instagram. While some were creeped out, others couldn’t wait to buy a box full of them, and a few were both creeped out yet wanted to buy them. The Avatar babies have left the world totally confused. An Instagram page called Artshub posted a video about these Avatar babies that quickly went viral, amassing over 2.4 million views in a short period of time. While the Na’vi babies aren’t real, they certainly look like real babies! Made by a Spanish company called Babyclon, these dolls are among the many other super-realistic dolls that the company boasts in its portfolio. Want to buy one and have it delivered at home? No problem. All you need is to cough up $2,340. Yes, that’s the price you have to pay to bring home a Na’vi offspring.
While we’re not sure why Babyclon decided to manufacture Avatar babies, all we know is that it’s the only company that has an official license from 20th Century Fox to create the Na’vi babies. Each baby weighs around 2.7 kg and you can choose to buy a baby boy or a baby girl, or both, if you have deep pockets. With a movable tongue and an openable mouth, Na’vi babies have awkwardly realistic genitals along with an internal system that allows them to swallow any liquid from baby bottles that eventually converts into urine, like real babies. Finally, Na’vi babies come in a variety of poses – sleeping, crawling and laughing. Oh, and they’re all naked. We’ve got to commend the artist and founder of Babyclon, Cristina Iglesias, for her attention to detail, but we can’t ignore the fact that some people are freaked out.
