Money Minded Girlfriend Dumps Broke Boyfriend, Then Years Later Regrets Her Decision
Before we dig into this story, I’d like to point out two quotes by two famous people. Canadian author Matshona Dhliwayo once said, “If you choose money over love, you will always be poor,” and British writer and historian, Habeeb Akande was quoted saying, “Money brings you the women you want, struggle brings you the women you need.” No one knows this better than Aaron Peter, a bright young man who quit his job so he could focus on his dream business. But, let’s rewind a little, shall we?
After graduating from a prestigious college, Peter bagged a high-profile job with a popular MNC. Life was smooth for the young man who had fallen head over heels in love with a young woman called Madison Harper. While Peter was busy making the money by working hard, Harper was busy spending it lavishly on expensive items. After a couple of years, and once Peter had gained enough exposure and intel regarding his dream project, he decided to quit his job to focus entirely on what he believed would be a game-changer in the artificial intelligence market.
Harper, on the other hand, did not take kindly to this and had a tough time trying to compromise with the evolving situation. A few months later, Peter moved out of his lavish apartment in an upscale neighborhood and even sold his car to be able to manage costs. He did everything he could to save money just so he could invest in his dream project, but he wasn’t selfish and knew that Harper’s needs mattered too. So on her birthday, Peter bought her a pair of earrings as well as a ring. Yes, the young man decided to pop the question and was expecting an overjoyed Harper to say yes.
But the truth left him heartbroken. Instead of jumping with joy Harper was furious and complained about the kind of gift he had given her. Harper couldn’t see that Peter had drained his savings to buy her something he thought was worthy, and Peter, well, that didn’t stop him from popping the question. Maybe things would settle down, he thought, as he got down on one knee to propose to the love of his life. Seeing the simple wedding band, Harper couldn’t contain her rage and she stormed out of Peter’s apartment, and ultimately his life.
Heartbroken and alone, Peter often wondered if quitting the job was the right thing to do, but a few weeks later, when reality kicked in, he realized that there was more to life than a broken heart – the will to focus on his dream project. It took him a few weeks to heal, but the young man was determined to fulfill his dream, and in that process, he met Diane Walter. Walter believed in Peter and did everything she could to help him achieve his goals. She encouraged him to save money instead of dining out or buying her random gifts. She even cooked meals at home so Peter could focus on his project.
Weeks turned into months and months turned into a couple of years, but the determined couple continued to believe in each other. It wasn’t long after then that Peter’s dream business took off and he bumped into a broke Harper in a mall’s parking lot. After greeting each other, she saw that he was carrying multiple shopping bags, most branded and some filled to the brim with luxury items. Before she could ask him who they were for, a happy Walter walked in and was instantly introduced to Harper. A speechless Harper stood there dumbfounded as Walter proudly flashed her diamond engagement ring.
The quotes I mentioned at the beginning of this story do make sense now, don’t they? Hard work always pays off!
