Mother Of Two Reveals Sad Reason Why Her Son Prefers To Never Leave The House
Mother of two, Cynthia Acker, was out and about one fine morning, ticking off her grocery list in a popular supermarket, a few miles from home. On her way out of the supermarket, she found herself standing behind a young black man, who was being held by the supermarket’s security guard. Confused as to why the man was being held, Acker decided to find out so she could leave and return to her sons waiting outside in the car. As it turns out, the security guard asked the young man to show him the receipt of all the things he had bought and began scrutinizing each and every item inside his shopping bag. The young man obliged, and requested the guard to allow him to leave as all the items in his bag were duly paid for. The guard, however, continued to rummage through the embarrassed man’s shopping bag and once satisfied, asked him to leave.

While the young man was busy rearranging the items in his shopping bag, it was Acker’s turn to show the guard her receipt. But instead of giving her the same treatment he gave the young black man, the guard greeted her and wished her a good day. He did not want to see her receipt and also did not want to rummage through her shopping bag. She couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed first-hand – racism, at it’s best. While leaving the supermarket she heard the young black man asking the guard if he treated him the way he did because he was black. The young black man wasn’t expecting a response and didn’t get one, but Acker knew he didn’t deserve silent treatment. Acker knew that her son was right. We’ll get to that in a bit.

Before she exited, Acker asked the security guard why he refused to see her receipt and why he treated the young black man like a thief. The security guard, on the other hand, refused to accept that he had mistreated the black man, leaving Acker astonished. Being the devoted mother that she is, Acker quickly left for the parking lot where her two sons were eagerly waiting for her to return. Suddenly she saw two cops walking towards a black boy and reprimanded him. Acker rushed to the scene, but before she could say anything, the cop asked her if he knew the boy. Before Acker could reply, the cop said that they received a complaint that someone had stolen some money from a store nearby. Without giving Acker a moment to explain, the cop began searching the boy, asking him how much he had stolen and what else he was hiding.

Raged and frustrated, Acker demanded the cops to stop and asked them to leave her son alone. Yes, the black boy’s name was Alexander, and he was Acker’s second husband’s son. Acker was his mother. Alexander was waiting in the car with Acker’s biological son Samuel, but because of the color of his skin, the cops targetted him without second thoughts. It all made sense now. While Samuel was greeted and escorted because of white privilege, Alexander was on the receiving end of doubts, nasty looks, and suspicion. It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t right, and it wasn’t justified. Alexander, who was naturally hurt, knew his mother was doing everything she could to protect him, and Acker, who loves both her sons equally, now knows why Alexander prefers to stay home.

Alexander is just one of the millions of people who face racism in today’s modern world. It’s time to put an end to racism. It’s time to stop judging people on the basis of their race. After all, we all bleed red.
