Rich Girl Flaunting Her Riches Mocks Poor Girl And Lives To Regret Her Words
Unfortunately, as the world becomes more materialistic, we’re all to blame, as a society, when we look at what we have and how rich we than what we truly are. Bling, brands, luxury, and leisure speak more about a person than character and personality, and in reality, I’m sure you’ll agree, it should be the other way round. American basketball player, Blake Griffin, rightly said, “Some people are so poor, all they have is their money.” That’s true, too. Although money is useful to help you live a good life, letting money rule your mind is a recipe for disaster. No one knows this better than two college friends Jessica Parker and Symone Lopez. Parker has always had the best life could offer; whereas Lopez was blessed with what she needed in life.
The two were happy in their own worlds, living life to the fullest until one day, they bumped into each other. Although they had known each other since college, the two never hung out together. While Parker thought Lopez wasn’t “worth” her time, Lopez, on the other hand, didn’t want to be influenced into thinking that being rich was the best way to live life. They maintained their distance in college, but couldn’t escape breaking the ice when they bumped into each other in a mall’s parking lot. After exchanging greetings, Lopez asked Parker about her life, what she was doing and who she was waiting for at the parking lot.
As it turns out, Parker was interning at her dad’s firm and learning the ropes so she could take over the family business in due time. Lopez could tell that life was smooth for Parker, who was busy boasting about how everything always falls in place for her. But who was she waiting for at the parking lot? Parker explained how busy her parents were and that she was waiting for the driver to drop her off at home. Parker told Lopez just how successful her parents were and that they hardly had time to spend as a family. They were so busy that Parker hardly got to see them and almost always celebrated her birthdays in luxury hotels with friends.
Parker continued to mock Lopez, telling her how much she missed out on life because she couldn’t afford the “good things” that money can buy. But Lopez was rich in her own ways. Soon after, Lopez’s dad exited the mall and walked towards his daughter with a loaded shopping cart. Parker smirked as she saw him heading towards them with a cart full of “average” things. Curiosity got the better of her and she asked Lopez about why they were here and that’s when she learned that money isn’t the only means of being rich. Before Lopez could answer, her excited dad told Parker that it was her birthday and that the entire family was getting together to celebrate the big day!
Before heading towards their car, her father added that although they were busy, they ensure to spend quality time as a family because nothing mattered more than being surrounded by loved ones. As far as riches was concerned, Lopez was rich with family, love, tradition, culture, character, and personality – things that Parker greatly missed out on. Before heading to the car to help unload the shopping cart, Lopez told Parker that money could buy everything a person wanted, but it could never buy things people needed most – love, care, and affection. With that, she hugged her speechless rich friend, and even invited her to her birthday party, before leaving her alone in a parking lot to rethink her life choices.
