Helpless Senior Dog Gets Tied To Rail 48 Hours After Adoption
Before we talk about anything else, let’s get one thing clear – dogs especially helpless dogs have feelings. Cats have feelings. Basically, all animals have feelings. They feel love and attachment just as much as we do. Since this article is about an 11-year-old helpless dog called Max, we’re going to focus on dogs and how they feel before moving on to the main story. Author and professor of neuroeconomics at Emory University, Gregory Berns was part of a research that proved that helpless dogs do feel love and attachment. Then in 2014, a group of scientists revealed in another study that dogs can read our moods through tone of voice.
In 2017 another study revealed that dogs have the ability to recognize generosity and act according to how they feel. A study in 2012 revealed that dogs feel empathy and one in 2008 discovered that like humans, many a dog too feel envy and jealousy. We know so much about our canine companions, yet some of us continue to abandon them in the middle of nowhere without regarding their feelings. Instead of abandoning dogs on the streets or somewhere in the woods please consider surrendering them to no-kill shelters so they have a second chance of finding their forever loving homes.
This is a story of an 11-year-old good boy called Max who was surrendered to The Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) when his family moved out. Not long after, a woman from Kensington adopted Max and took him home. Volunteers from ACCT Philly were thrilled to see that Max had found his forever loving home and that he had a warm place to spend the rest of his golden years in love and happiness. But they were wrong because in less than 48 hours Monica da Costa, a volunteer for ACCT Philly, saw Max tied to a rail alone in the cold. It was clear that poor Max was abandoned. Again.
As soon as Max saw da Costa, he immediately recognized her and ran straight into her arms. After taking Max out of the cold da Costa called the woman who adopted him but failed to get in touch with her. She believes that he is no longer wanted. da Costa is heartbroken that Max was abandoned in the cold especially after they all felt he had found his loving home. Like everyone else, she believes that no animal deserves to be abandoned like that and especially in the case of Max, a senior dog. It’s simple – a person who’s incapable of caring for a pet shouldn’t adopt one in the first place. da Costa hopes that Max will find his forever loving home because taking him back to the shelter is not an option – he may be euthanized.
Max would fit perfectly with a family that has no other animals. ACCT Philly volunteers regard him as an affectionate, loving and cuddly furball who only needs some serious loving so he can live the rest of his golden years in peace.
