Renowned Artist’s Bizarre Artwork Is Nauseating People All Over The World

Art. A long time ago, the word art was associated with nature, landscapes, human painting, cave paintings, and whatnot, but today a canvas scattered with paint is called art. A canvas with a single shade of color is considered art. Don’t believe me? Check out Blood Red Mirror by Gerhard Richter that is worth a nice $1,1 million. Times have changed. People have stretched the world of art and included a lot more than just paintings. While I try hard to “read” art, such as Mark Rothko’s No.6 (Violet, Green, Red) that has a price tag of a whopping $186 million, I still can’t understand the motive behind Qixuan Lim’s bizarre pieces of art. You might think that I’m the odd one out, but many people across the world are left speechless after seeing one of Lim’s artwork.

Born on the 26th of December 1991 in Singapore, Lim is popular for her disturbing and somewhat creepy, works of art that have left half the world questioning her motives. What she considers “delicious” will leave you gazing at her work, probably in complete shock and confusion. By the year 2019, Lim had successfully managed to creep half the world out with the haunting sculptures she created in her own bedroom. If you think that all the negativity could discourage her from creating the weird masterpieces, think again. That’s exactly what motivates her to continue making them. But when did she start obsessing about making such graphic works of art? We’ve got to credit Lim’s mentor from Noise Singapore who asked her to step outside her comfort zone and focus on graphic design.

What started with futuristic animals ended up with her current obsession in 2017 – human body parts, especially babies. But why is Lim obsessed with creating disturbingly realistic infant body parts? According to her, that’s her way of challenging beauty norms and stereotypes. It all started when she stepped outside everyone’s comfort zone and imagined baby heads placed inside discarded pistachio shells that she came across during one Chinese New Year. Lim’s artwork is a combination of cute and creepy, helping her gain over 170,000 Instagram followers. If half the world is left speechless after looking at her art, the other half is just blown away. One of her recent art exhibitions called Modern Panic held in Tokyo, Japan in 2018 had people amazed at what she could create.

An attendee called Mako Kudo was seen praising the young artist, claiming that her work of art was free from stereotypes and gave people a new perspective. Lim doesn’t mind that half the world doesn’t understand her works of art. After all, her sculptures graphically display blood, guts, detached baby limbs, hearts, brains, eyes, and whatnot – so it’s only fair that people don’t “get” her vision. Her Instagram page is usually flooded with negative comments from across the globe, but that doesn’t stop her from uploading graphic images of her art. The negative comments don’t bother her at all because according to her, she doesn’t create her art to please anyone. In fact, she believes that the positive and negative comments she receives pave the way for interesting dialogues and debates.

To bring home one of her artwork, not only should you have a deep appreciation of her vision, but also deep pockets because they cost anywhere between $1,400 and $2,100.
