Senior Couple Madly In Love Pass Away Together While Holding Hands
This senior couple is going to make you believe in the “Till death do us part” part of the wedding vow. They meant it and even proved it to the world. Meet Judy and Will Webb, a couple from Southgate, Michigan, who fell in love with each other over 50 years ago. They first met each other when they were 14 years old! When Will enlisted in the U.S. Military, Judy wrote letters to him to keep their connection alive.
After they got married, Will worked night shifts as a printer and Judy worked day shifts at a local hospital. But despite a hectic work schedule, Judy would stay awake until Will returned home every night. Married for 56 years, the couple passed away together, holding hands, just hours apart on March 6th, 2019. According to their daughter, MaryBeth Webb, the senior couple rarely left each other and spent most of their lives doing everything together.
The only time they were apart for two months was when their illnesses separated them, forcing them to seek care in different hospitals. Judy and Will were both 77 years old when they passed away in hospice care while holding hands. According to their family, the couple suffered from multiple health issues, but they continued to share a special connection with each other. Judy underwent a procedure sometime in December that didn’t go well and led her straight to Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital’s ER where she was placed on a ventilator and treated for infection. The next day, Will collapsed from exhaustion.
According to MaryBeth, Will’s heart broke to see his beloved wife suffering, and from that point on, whatever happened to Judy, happened to Will too. Whenever she had a high fever, he had one too. When she got congestion, he was down with pneumonia. To treat Judy, the doctors gave her a medicine called metabolic encephalopathy that gave her a reaction. The same medicine was administered to Will and he too had the same reaction.
When the family and doctors realized that Judy wasn’t responding well to the medication, they asked her if she wanted to stay beside Will. Judy was thrilled and couldn’t wait to meet him and so they were placed in hospice care, beds alongside each other. The senior couple held hands till their final hours. When Will passed away at 2 am, Judy was speechless and constantly rubbed his hand. Their family knew Will and Judy couldn’t live without each other, Judy knew it too, and so hours later she too passed away, still holding his hand.
Their family believes that Will died from a broken heart, especially when he learned that Judy’s health was deteriorating after her procedure in December. The couple’s funeral was held on the 12th of March 2019 at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home in Huron Township. Judy and Will leave behind three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Till death do us part… but for this couple, even death couldn’t part them.
